The Official Victorian Alpine Report

The Official Victorian Alpine Report was launched in the Summer of 2007-2008, in response to the magnificent boom in the number of activities, events, accommodation packages and festivals that have sprung up at our alpine resort summer calendars over the years. There are just as many activities in the "green season" as in the "white season" on offer, and now is the best time to pack up the car, take in a journey through the north east’s vibrant valleys and head on up to the mountaintops to explore what beauty awaits above and below the snowline.

The alpine resorts are often about ten degrees cooler than down in the valleys and flat lands. They offer an incredible choice of activities from adrenalin pumping mountain bike steeps, to solitary tranquil walking tracks, to beautiful day spas where you can spend an afternoon of pampering before wandering back to your alpine retreat where you can then laze on your private deck sipping a local drop and soaking in the magnificent mountain sunsets! So it doesn’t matter whether you are into action, adventure, relaxation, fun or just wanting to escape the concrete jungle, you will find plenty of space and lots on offer to rejuvenate the senses here in the beautiful high country.

And this is where we at the Official Victorian Alpine Report come into it! We are your one stop shop - with all the information at hand to help you make the most of your precious time in these beautiful mountains.

The best part of it all is that these amazing summer destinations are only a few hours drive away! What are you waiting for?!

Our Reporters

Carol Binder has been the official Victorian Snow Reporter since the 1990's. She loves the mountains as much in summer as she does in the winter and has lived at all of the mountain resorts before settling down with her family in the beautiful heritage listed village of Wandiligong which is nestled in the foothills of Mt Hotham. She knows this country intimately and makes the most of her time in the mountains indulging in hang gliding and mountain biking pursuits. Carol can be found speaking weekly on local, statewide and national radio and television programs about all that is going on.

Eliza Stokie has been coming to the mountains ever since her parents brought her up to Hotham to ski as a 5 year old. A country girl at heart, Eliza is passionate about promoting regional tourism and for her, the attraction of the Victorian Alps was too good to pass up, and she relocated from Melbourne to the leafy sub-alpine town of Harrietville. In summer you can often find her retreating by the cool waters of the Ovens River, mountain biking, camping, hiking or trail running along the numerous tracks around Harrietville or attending one of the many events in the alps.

If you are currently not on our subscription list to receive the FREE weekly summer newsletter detailing what's on for weekend ahead, holiday suggestions, reports on recent events and more - you are missing out! Click here to register so you are always in the know with your favourite mountain.
