Targa High Country |

On November 4-6, Mt Buller welcomes back the Targa High Country motoring event for the second huge year. This international tarmac rally is run by event management group Octagon, also responsible for the acclaimed Targa Tasmania and Targa Wrest Point events.
Targa High Country will consist of a street stage in Mansfield on the Friday evening followed by closed-road competition stages on the Saturday and Sunday to Mt Buller, Jamieson, Eildon and the King Valley. The competition concept is drawn from international events including the Mille Miglia, the Coupe des Alpes and the Tour de Course, giving drivers the opportunity to experience the exciting and challenging roads in the Mansfield-Mt Buller region. The offical start and finish will be on Mt Buller.
Targa High Country is a fantastic opportunity to combine a world-class motoring event with an escape to the beautiful Mansfield-Mt Buller area. With each leg of the event finishing with the thrilling Mt Buller Tourist Road, the Mt Buller Village is the perfect place to base yourself for the duration of the event. A range of accommodation options are available, and there are a number of bars and restaurants in the Village where you can enjoy local food and wine.

Australian Tarmac Challenge King of the Mountain |

Mt Buller will be home to a new motoring event with a difference - the Australian Tarmac Challenge will hit the mountain for an action-packed day of auto tests. Drivers will battle it out for King of the Mountain accolades, with a hill-climb and final touring climb stage to the Mt Buller Village.
It all starts from Broadford (80km`s from Melbourne) with breakfast and drivers briefing, then hit the track with multiple runs of circuit sprints, hill climbs and auto tests. Lunch will be provided on the day. Once your runs are completed you can begin the trek from Broadford through Strathcreek, and on the way to the fabulous mountain drive up to the village of Mt Buller where you`ll have one more gymkhana to complete a huge day of motorsport. Dinner will be provided that evening.
Day 2 will be a combination of gymkhanas, hill climbs, auto speed tests and a 9km spirited drive up the mountain road.
Breakfast, lunch and presentation dinner with live entertainment are all included.
All you need is your CAMS L2 license, 1 KG fire extinguisher fitted and a Helmet that complies with Australian standards.

Chamber Music Summer School |

Chamber Music Summer School - Mount Buller runs each January at the Mount Buller Ski village situated in the north-eastern alps of Victoria. This residential school caters for up to 12 chamber string groups, composed mainly of string players. The 2012 school will take place between January 15 and 22. Pre-organisation of the summer school is carried out each year by an experienced committee who also attend the school.
Professional direction and running of the summer school are provided by visiting staff who vary each year. For January 2012 overall direction will be by Wilma Smith (Artistic Director), Wilma will bring with her eminent Australian musicians and educators Natsuko Yoshimoto, Caroline Henbest, Michael Goldschlager, Ian Munro and Micheál McCarthy.
Public performances by some of Australia`s finest chamber musicians can be enjoyed in the beautiful surroundings of the Mt Buller Chapel - at 8.30pm on Friday 20 and 3.00pm on Saturday 21 January.

Exploring Botanical Illustration in the Alps with Helen Burrows.
Helen Burrows, whose botanical watercolour illustrations are represented in the Victorian National Herbarium collection and galleries throughout Australia and overseas will conduct a wonderful 3 day course exploring and illustrating Mt Buller`s unique alpine flora. Helen has developed a comprehensive course schedule that will include guided nature walks around Mt Buller, talks on the alpine environment and field trips to explore the alpine flora in detail. This course is suitable participants of all levels of ability, from beginners to advanced, who wish to observe, explore and illustrate the plant world in the Alps.
This course provides a framework to foster artistic confidence with media, further develop technical skills and for those artists who need to review their practice; working in a caring, supportive environment and customised for the participants` needs and requirements. Activities are designed to encourage visual thinking and evaluate the botanical world through new perspectives, while nurturing a personal artistic style.

As part of the annual Tour De Flavour Festival, the Mansfield-Mt Buller Road Race will be held on Sunday 18th March.
The event will take in the stunning scenery and gruelling challenge of the Mt Buller Tourist Road, and 16km uphill ride from Mirimbah at the base of the mountain right up to the Mt Buller Village - a climb that rises 909 vertical metres in height, with an average grade of 6% and a number of sections that reach 12%.

The Mountain High Fun Run features three course options, from a leisurely 3km jog to a challenging 9km ‘Buller Breaker` course that encompasses some of the best scenery and most demanding tracks that Mt Buller has to offer, including the gruelling climb to the summit fire hut which will see runners climb 200 vertical metres from the Village.
